THE HON KATE ELLIS MP
FEDERAL MEMBER FOR ADELAIDE

Norwood Oval in the spotlight
The Member for Adelaide Kate Ellis says tonight's traditional SANFL ANZAC Day match will be seen in a new light with Norwood Oval's new lighting switched on.
The Rudd Government provided more than $126,000 to the Norwood, Payneham and St Peters City Council for the new lights as part of the Regional and Local Community Infrastructure Program.
"Tonight the Norwood Redlegs will line up against arch-rivals the Port Adelaide Magpies for what is sure to be an exciting game," Ms Ellis said.
"These new lights help ensure the future of night games at this great sporting venue and the continuation of a great Adelaide ANZAC tradition.
"This upgrade is a boost to Norwood Oval - the home of the Norwood Football Club since 1901 - and benefits the club, the SANFL and passionate fans of grassroots footy."
The $818,257 lighting upgrade marks the completion of the council's Playgrounds Development project. The project has revitalised parks in Kensington, Payneham and Felixstow. These projects received more than $70,000 from the Rudd Government's $1 billion Regional and Local Community Infrastructure Program.
"The funding program is a key plank of the Rudd Government's Economic Stimulus Plan and is delivering local jobs in communities like Norwood by building infrastructure for the long term.
"During construction, local contractors did upgrade works, creating about forty jobs and providing a real boost to our local economy," Ms Ellis said.
The $1 billion the Regional and Local Community Infrastructure Program is the single largest federal investment in community infrastructure ever.
The program's remaining $220 million is now being made available, with the Norwood, Payneham and St Peters City Council set to receive at least another $71,000.
"This additional funding will support even more local jobs and help rebuild even more of the nation's vital community infrastructure.
"I congratulate the Norwood, Payneham and St Peters City Council and the local community for helping to deliver these important projects," Ms Ellis concluded.
