Rural and remote long day care services get funding boost
The Minister for Early Childhood Education and Child Care Kate Ellis today announced extra funding for 13 child care services in rural and remote Australia.
"The Rudd Government is providing $3 million over three years to give a helping hand to long day care services in rural and remote areas," Ms Ellis said.
"All Australian families deserve high quality, affordable and accessible child care services no matter where they live and this funding will help achieve that.
"The funding will be used to upgrade child care centres to better meet the education and care needs of the children they care for," Ms Ellis said.
The Child Care Services Support Program helps ensure children in country regions and other areas of need have access to high quality child care programs.
To be eligible for this funding, services must be receiving sustainability assistance from the Australian Government and must have secured equal funding for the project from local governments or other community funding sources.
