Investing in local community projects
Member for Adelaide Kate Ellis today announced that the Rudd Government is delivering $171,483 for two local organisations to continue delivering important community projects in Adelaide.
The Lady Gowrie Child Centre's Community Support Youth Mentoring Program and the YWCA's Strengthening Family Relationships Children's Wellbeing and Community Connections Project are among more than 220 community projects across Australia to share in $19.6 million.
"The Australian Government values the enormous contribution made by these organisations to the local Adelaide community and this funding will make sure that their important work can continue," Ms Ellis said
"I congratulate both the Lady Gowrie Child Centre and the Young Women's Christian Association of Adelaide for their work to improve the lives of the most vulnerable people in our community."
The Lady Gowrie Child Centre will support parents and children from vulnerable families to improve parenting skills and ensure the positive development of young children.
The Young Women's Christian Association project will assist young people and their families to build better relationships and reduce isolation. The project will also help young people to improve their social connections within the community.
"By working closely with organisations that have local knowledge, we can help build a stronger community and support local families in need," Ms Ellis said.
