Adelaide students to advise Government on cyber-safety
Member for Adelaide Kate Ellis today congratulated the six students from Adelaide who will attend the 2010 Cyber-safety and Youth Advisory Group Summit in Canberra.
Four students from St Mary's College and two students from The Heights, along with their parents and some of their teachers, have been flown to Canberra to provide their views on a range of Government cyber-safety programs and initiatives.
"These Adelaide students will attend the Summit with 50 other primary and secondary school students who are members of the Youth Advisory Group from all across Australia" Ms Ellis said.
The Youth Advisory Group on cyber-safety was established by the Australian Government in 2009 as part of its comprehensive Cyber-safety Plan.
"We know that young people are leaders when it comes to using technology and that is why it is important for them to have their say about how to keep young Australians safe online." Ms Ellis said.
Students, parents and teachers will provide their views on a range of Government programs including the award winning budd:e cyber security education modules, the Australian Federal Police's Thinkuknow program and the Australian Communication and Media Authority's Click and connect research and resources.
"I wish the students the best of luck for the Summit and welcome their advice and feedback on the Government's Cyber-safety Plan," Ms Ellis said.
