Prospect next in line for National Broadband Network rollout
Member for Adelaide Kate Ellis has welcomed the announcement that the City of Prospect has been selected as one of 19 sites nationwide for the next stage of the National Broadband Network.
"Prospect residents have long suffered from lack of access to affordable, quality broadband," Ms Ellis said.
"This is fantastic news for people in the City of Prospect".
The National Broadband Network is a key piece of Nation Building Infrastructure and it will bring significant economic, health and educational benefits to the community of Prospect.
Initially, the NBN will roll out to 3,000 Prospect premises, with the exact area to be determined after further discussion with local authorities to ensure local considerations are factored in.
Ultimately the NBN will be rolled out across the country, delivering a permanent internet solution for all Australian residents.
"This is a terrific win for our community and I am proud to be part of a Government that has brought forward the visionary policy of a National Broadband Network for all Australians," Ms Ellis said.
"I also cannot wait to see the delivery of high speed broadband to other areas of Adelaide, like Northgate and Wayville, where residents are crying out for this 21st century infrastructure."
"Tony Abbott and the Opposition have no plan for Australia's broadband future."
"The Opposition has promised that if elected, they will shut down the NBN and leave Australian residents without access to this vital infrastructure."
Residents of Adelaide will have a clear choice on Election Day, to support the Gillard Government's vision for Australia's broadband future or vote for the Liberals and see NBN construction cancelled across the country.
