Construction begins at Moe Early Learning and Care Centre
Minister for Early Childhood Education and Child Care Kate Ellis and Victorian Minister for Children and Early Childhood Development Maxine Morand today announced that construction is under way on new facilities for children and their families in Moe.
The Australian Government is investing $1.6 million in the Moe Early Learning and Care Centre, which will provide 90 child care places and 30 kindergarten places. The Victorian Government is contributing $1.1 million and the Latrobe City Council is providing $2.1 million for the centre.
The Moe Early Learning and Care Centre will be part of an integrated hub, which will also include maternal and child health services and community facilities to meet the needs of local working families.
"The Gillard Government recognises that high quality early childhood education and care is vital for the social, emotional and educational growth of children," Ms Ellis said.
"This new centre in Moe will make sure that local families have access to the high quality care and education for their children that they deserve."
Ms Morand said the new centre at Moe would give families access to better integrated family and children's services under the one roof.
"The Brumby Labor Government knows how important early childhood education and care is and through centres such as this we are making sure parents can access a range of high quality services conveniently located in one place," she said.
"We have helped fund more than 100 integrated children's centres across Victoria and the Moe centre will be a great addition for this community.
"We are delighted to partner with the Australian Government and the Latrobe City Council to build this new Early Learning and Care Centre in Moe."
The Moe Early Learning and Care Centre is part of the Australian Government's $114.5 million investment to establish 38 new Early Learning and Care Centres across Australia.
The centre is one of eleven Early Learning and Care Centres in Victoria designed to provide high-quality, affordable and accessible services to Australian families.
