Jobs and Skills Expo to keep Caboolture working
Local job and training opportunities will be on offer in Caboolture at the Keep Australia Working Jobs and Skills Expo next month.
"I'm calling on all jobseekers, employers and training organisations in Caboolture to get excited and get involved," Minister for Employment Participation and Child Care, Kate Ellis said.
"Since October 2009, Jobs and Skills Expos held around Australia have attracted over 147,000 people and connected more than 14,700 people with job oppportunities.
"This is an excellent opportunity for local jobseekers and people interested in undertaking training to meet a range of employers and training providers in a single location."
The expo will be held at the Morayfield Park Leisure Centre from 10am to 3pm on Friday, 10 December 2010.
Minister for Human Services Tanya Plibersek said the expo was part of the Gillard Government's ongoing commitment to taking action in the areas that have been hit hardest by the global recession.
"I urge local employers to get behind the event and help get local people back in to work," Ms Plibersek said.
"This is the second expo held in the region this year. More than 5,000 people attended the June expo on the Sunshine Coast and 600 people were connected with job opportunities on that day."
The Gillard Government's Jobs and Skills Expos are designed to create a 'jobs marketplace', bringing together Local Employment Coordinators, employment service providers, Centrelink, employers and job seekers.
The Caboolture expo will include a jobs board with jobs on offer, and a skills board where local training organisations promote training options available in the area.
Exhibiting at the expo is free. Exhibitors who can't be there on the day can contact Centrelink on (07) 5470 9622 to have a job vacancy placed on a board at the expo.
