2012 | 2011 | 2010 | 2009 | 200818 Feb 2008 - 2020 Youth Summit announced
The Rudd Government will harness the expertise, ideas and enthusiasm of Australia's young people in a two-day 2020 Youth Summit in April.
The Minister for Youth, Kate Ellis, said the 2020 Youth Summit would bring together 100 young people from around Australia in Canberra to discuss the 10 critical areas on the agenda for discussion at the Australia 2020 summit.
"This Government is committed to engaging young Australians in the decision making process and harnessing their vision for the future," Ms Ellis said.
"We're inviting nominations from young Australians around the country to be a part of this summit.
"We can tap into the wealth of expertise, energy and enthusiasm of young Australians."
The 2020 Youth Summit will be held in Canberra over the weekend of 12-13 April 2008, and will be chaired by Kate Ellis, the Minister for Youth, and 2004 Young Australian of the year, Hugh Evans.
Ten participants from Youth 2020 plus the youth summit co-chair, Hugh Evans, will be invited to attend Australia 2020, further strengthening young Australian' input into this important forum on the future of the nation.
Delegates will also be asked to discuss possible models for an ongoing Australian Youth Forum.
Anyone between the ages of 15-24 can nominate by visiting australia2020.gov.au and download the nomination form.
