POSITION VACANT – MEDIA ADVISER

I am looking for a motivated media adviser to join my office on a full time basis.

The person in this role will have primary responsibility for managing strategic and day to day media and communications across the Early Childhood Education and Development, and TAFE and Vocational Education portfolios.

Required attributes include:

  • Excellent communication and writing skills

  • An ability to generate pro-active media

  • Good political judgment

  • A commitment to building and maintaining relationships

The role will also involve research, writing media releases, drafting op eds and preparing other communication material.

The ability to work as part of a small team, strong organisational skills and time management, as well as an understanding of Australia’s system of Government and the Parliamentary process are also required.

Previous work as a media adviser in a political office, or experience in the media would be valuable.

The position is offered under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984 and conditions are outlined in the Commonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Enterprise Agreement 2012-2015.

A salary within the range $75,260 to $90,271, will be determined on skills and experience, along with an allowance of $28,139. An Adelaide or Canberra base is negotiable. Travel to Canberra during sitting weeks and travel at other times will be required.
