SECRET DOCUMENTS REVEAL QUEENSLAND SCHOOLS TO LOSE BILLIONS

Secret documents obtained through Freedom of Information have revealed billions of dollars will be ripped from Queensland schools due to Tony Abbott’s education cuts, despite his promise of no cuts to education.

Campbell Newman and Queensland Education Minister John-Paul Langbroek were advised of the extent of the damage caused by the Abbott Government’s Budget cuts but tried to keep it secret.

This is the biggest cut the State has ever seen and will mean less teachers, less subject choices, literacy and numeracy programs will be cut, and students will miss out on the individual support they need.

Campbell Newman and Tony Abbott have tried to keep this secret, but the truth about just how much damage they are doing to Queensland schools in now absolutely undeniable.

“It’s time for Tony Abbott to stop lying and Campbell Newman to stop covering up to damage they are doing to Queensland schools,” Shadow Minister for Education, Kate Ellis, said.

“The Newman Government has known for months about the impact of these cuts, but has chosen to say absolutely nothing.”

“Campbell Newman spruiked that he got a better deal for Queensland families, but we see that is absolutely not the case.”

“He needs to stop cooperating in the deception, trickery and lies, and put Queensland families ahead of his friendship with Tony Abbott.”

The Abbott Government’s May Budget revealed $80 billion in cuts to schools and hospitals across Australia.

“We call on every other Liberal State and Territory to put their political allegiance with Tony Abbott aside and tell their families and schools just what these cuts mean for them,” Kate Ellis said.
