Barnaby Joyce's first task as acting Prime Minister should be to do something about Malcolm Turnbull's schools mess.
Before the election, Barnaby Joyce said:
"I believe without a shadow of a doubt, we will continue to commit to Gonski past the first term.” [Northern Daily Leader, 5 September 2013]
He should make the same commitment as acting Prime Minister today.
The Nationals have no credibility in their claims they stand up for rural and regional Australia if they do not stand up against Malcolm Turnbull's cuts to education.
Malcolm Turnbull's cuts will rip $12.5 billion out of regional Australia over the next decade - cuts which will mean country students are never given the opportunity to catch up to their city peers.
If Barnaby Joyce stands for anything at all, he needs to stand up for Australia's students.
