Reports today that families with multiple children in the child care system could be worse off under Scott Morrison’s child care changes show just how much information he is hiding from families.
We already know that one in four families will be worse off as a result of these changes, by an average of $1800 a year.
Now we have new information that families with multiple children might be facing an uphill battle to afford child care.
Shadow Minister for Education and Early Childhood, Kate Ellis, said that any changes should make it easier for families to access child care – not harder.
“It’s time for Scott Morrison to be upfront with families about everything they stand to lose under the new system,” she said.
“There are many families with multiple children who rely on this payment to afford child care, and the Government shouldn't be trying hoodwink parents with a lack of detail.
“If the Government has nothing to hide then they need to quit the games and put all the facts on the table so that families can really assess what the changes will mean.
“Tony Abbott and Scott Morrison have an appalling record of short-changing families and the last thing families need is another hit to their daily budget from this Government.”
