Abbott Government cuts to the ABC’s Budget will mean TV production in South Australia will shut down and will also mean 150 local job losses.
South Australian Abbott Government Minister, Christopher Pyne, has turned on the ABC, blaming the organisation for the impact of his Government’s massive funding cuts.
“If Christopher Pyne is so outraged by the consequences of his Government’s cuts, then he should call on his Prime Minister to reverse them,” Federal Member for Adelaide, Kate Ellis, said.
“Christopher Pyne has been leading the charge in the dismantling of South Australian production and jobs, never once standing up for our state against Tony Abbott.
“He was happy to see Holden go, he’s happy to offshore our future submarines risking thousands of jobs, and now he is blaming to ABC for his Government’s cuts.”
“I urge Christopher Pyne and other SA Liberals to join with Labor and fight for vital ABC funding, by petitioning Turnbull and Abbott, to ensure the longevity of local news, current affairs and other successful programs.
“South Australians deserve more than a Minister who roars like a lion at the ABC in Adelaide, but is quiet as a mouse in the Cabinet Room.”
