The Government's own figures show their child care changes will do nothing to stop fees breaking the $200 a day mark.
Reports today reveal that by mid 2017 - when the Government's proposed changes are due to commence - fees will jump by a further 14 per cent and push the cost of child care to new highs.
"The Liberals promised more affordable child care, but they are going to go a whole term of government without doing anything about it," Shadow Early Childhood Minister, Kate Ellis, said.
"Instead they are putting new caps on assistance, doing nothing to limit out-of-pocket costs and pushing families out of the system.
"Many parents will be forced out of the workforce by the cost of child care - including those in essential services, retail and hospitality.
"It's bad for jobs, bad for the economy and bad for the family budget.
"Despite the Government's best efforts to keep the impact of their child care changes secret, independent analysis shows one in four families will be worse off - that's 250,000 families.
"After more than two years and three child care ministers, the time for excuses has ended - families need assistance now."
In his pre-Christmas budget update, Malcolm Turnbull announced $1.3 billion in new child care cuts - bringing the Liberals' child care cuts to over $2.3 billion since the election.
