The Turnbull Government will continue to hold investment in early education hostage to its zombie Family Tax Benefit cuts, a Senate Inquiry has heard today.
The Liberals even went so far as to publically admonish early education advocates for raising concerns about the impact proposed Family Tax Benefit cuts would have on low income families and children:
“For you to come here and to quibble about how it is to be funded, I suggest makes you look like you are not very grateful.”
[Liberal Senator James Paterson, 3 September 2016]
It’s time Malcolm Turnbull dropped the charade.
His own right-hand-man Arthur Sinodinos has admitted the child care changes and Family Tax Benefit cuts are only linked for “political purposes”.
The Government is happy to blame everyone but themselves and it’s time they actually took responsibility for investing in early education.
Today’s evidence suggests Australian families may be at risk of facing another entire parliamentary term without the Liberals doing a single thing on child care.
