Malcolm Turnbull is sticking to the theme of saying everything and doing nothing when it comes to helping Australian families, with his child care package stalling while families are facing higher fees.
The Government’s own figures show that under the Liberals, fees will have risen by 26 per cent by the time the Jobs for Families package is meant to commence.
However affordability and accessibility in early education may be kicked even further down the road if the Government doesn’t introduce legislation before the Budget.
“The Jobs for Families package is quickly unravelling as a political thought-bubble which was always meant to help the Liberals more than it was to help families,” Shadow Minister for Early Childhood, Kate Ellis said today.
“The Liberals will have gone a whole term without doing anything to help parents access affordable, quality early education and care.
“At the same time, they have confirmed they are sticking with their unfair family payment cuts to pay for child care changes.
“Families need real action from the Government, instead they have been dealt more than twelve months of empty promises and detail-free policy under the Liberals.”
